The Chinese language and the University of Ulster

Languagess & Literature - Flag of China

The University of Ulster has for many years now been the principal provider of language courses at third level within Northern Ireland. As a further sign of our commitment to the community, the University of Ulster is for the first time providing Chinese at beginners level. There are currently three lecturers teaching Chinese on our campus at Belfast.

Part-time Diploma in Chinese at Belfast available in 2004.

Campus Location: Belfast campus

The Course:
The Diploma in Chinese (Mandarin) will provide an opportunity for a wide range of people to study Chinese from scratch. It is designed for those who have not had the opportunity to study Chinese to acquire key skills in the language.

It is also of interest for those who have studied Chinese in the past but who wish to undertake a complete refresher course. Over the two years of the course you will receive a solid grounding in the key areas of Chinese pronunciation, conversation, grammar, and reading and writing skills.

By the end of the Diploma you will be able to display competent oral and written communicative skills in Chinese, demonstrate a knowledge of Chinese grammar.
