School of Languages & Cultures

Coleraine campus: The Centre for Molecular Biosciences

The School of Languages & Cultures consists of five subjects, each led by a subject leader. All the subjects in the School at all campuses offered are taught by staff who are, in many cases, at the forefront of research in their subject area. The School of Languages & Cultures offers a range of vocational courses developing a comprehensive range of programmes embracing both non-degree and degree courses at various levels, and providing opportunities to study in a wide variety of art and language disciplines.

The School has enjoyed a number of successes in recent years in the areas of teaching and research, both within the University and internationally and a number of colleagues have received awards to celebrate their achievements in teaching and research. In 2005, the School was designated as a national Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) in the area of multimedia language learning and you use a range of innovative and leading-edge resources and facilities to support your learning as part of your studies with us: a number of these have been developed by our own staff. In addition, in 2011, the University was granted the status of Northern Ireland Confucius Institute, one of only a small number of institutes throughout the UK and Ireland with responsibility for promoting Chinese language and culture.
