Journalism

Journalism image [newspapers]

The course is a combination of practical reporting and academic learning. It will give you the basic skills of a reporter in a newspaper, radio, TV or online newsroom, as well as a chance to think more deeply about why journalism is important in our society. Each year students on the journalism course have the chance to work on placements with BBC Northern Ireland in their coverage of the North West 200 (May) and the Milk Cup (July). The degree is an academic rather than a professional qualification in journalism, so some post-graduate study may be required to pursue a career as a newspaper reporter.
