School of English & History
The School is committed to innovative learning and teaching. It fosters an environment which enables students to make the most of their time here. Lecturing staff are encouraged to undertake the sort of cutting-edge scholarship which supports teaching and enhances the student experience. Our professors and lectures enjoy national and international reputations as scholars in their chosen field. Upon graduation, our student go on to an exciting array of further study and careers.
We offer a rich variety of teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. There is a strong portfolio of taught postgraduate courses and a thriving community of full and part-time research students. At present, over 50 students are enrolled for our MA, MRes and PhD programmes in History, Heritage and Museum Studies.
The School is closely associated The Arts & Humanities Research Institute. It is also home to the Wellcome-funded Centre for the Study of Medicine in Ireland (CHOMI). Each of these organizations sponsors important and exciting research.
